Sumners Match Lake17/03/2013

Sumners match lake for this one, and we started the day with a full English in the cafe, lovely start, after
that it went down hill. If you are going to bag up, this is the lake to do it on, unless you’re fishing one of our matches!!
So much rain water had gone into the lake overnight causing the water temperature to plummet, putting the fish off the feed. We managed to set up in the dry, then it rained constantly, with a biting wind to finish it off.

Results

1st was Big Mac with 32lb 6oz made up of 8 carp and a few silvers caught on the pole in the margins using maggot.

Hi lights of the Match

Big Mac was having a mare so he changed tactics, with an hour to go he reeled in, poured a cuppa, went for a walk and had a chat then returned to his peg to catch 6 carp on the trot to win the match! Huggy threw all his bait in at 3 o’clock , then realised we were fishing to 3.30,ended up using boogies for hook bait! Stu Blobdick gave up after a few hours and went home for an early bath. Niff Noff was obviously paying attention to Huggy in the last match, with 5 minutes to go Huggy was into a carp, Niff Noff cast over him and started playing the same fish. Fish on, fish off! Justice! And how about that Mitchell, the level he will stoop to to wrangle a place into the 1st round of his Mitchell cup, unable to fish this match and with only 2 points to his name, he paid a boy of about 12 to keep popping out of the bushes and throw stones into our swims, how low can you get Mitchell! Still it paid off and he’s in the 1st round. Other than that it was a case of hide under your brolly and wait for a bite! The pub afterwards was most welcome, a few pints and a roaring fire, the perfect end to a hard days fishing!
